Make Your Own Tasty Celiac Bagels

When you are gluten intolerant, it is not always easy to find interesting and tasty treats to enjoy in. Some are complicated to prepare or require too much time. Well, this recipe is so simple that anyone can make these delicious and popular treats in maybe one hour or so. It's also quite cheap, and requires just a few basic ingredients, including gluten free flour, yeast, sugar and salt.

You will need two cups of warm water, five cups of gluten free flour, two teaspoons of sugar, salt and dry yeast, each, and water and oil for cooking. That's it. And you can make really lovely celiac bagels. So, put sugar, yeast and two cups of gluten free flour in a bowl and make a mixture first. After a few minutes, add the rest of your flour and salt to form a smooth dough.

If necessary, add some flour to get smooth dough. Cover the dough with a cloth and leave it to stand for ten minutes to rise slightly. Divide the batter into 12 parts. Of each part mold a roller and connect the ends to get the shape of the ring. Cover those dough rings with the cloth for another ten minutes or so, to rise again.

Boil the water with a little bit of oil. Simmer your dough rings in water for about forty seconds each. Place your cooked dough rings on a cloth or on paper towels to dry. Grease the baking sheet and preheat the oven. Place dough rings on baking sheet and bake for maybe fifteen to twenty minutes, until golden crust is formed on the top.

You might think this recipe is a little bit strange, because you don't add salt right away. Well, the reason for this is really simple. While sugar activates yeast, salt will slow the things down. If you try it this way, you will find out that your dough will rise faster. It works for any type of raised dough, including pizza dough and similar.

Before baking, you can coat the rings with whipped egg whites, and sprinkle them with sesame, seeds, or sugar, to make them more interesting and even tastier. Once done, they can be served with tasty spreads, marmalade, peanut butter or anything else you can think of. Interesting and tasty spreads are easy to prepare as well.

For example, you can easily make one simple cream cheese spread. Combine your favorite cream cheese with a little bit of salt, garlic and chili powder, to make salty, spicy and delicious snacks. If you prefer sweet snacks, combine cream cheese with whipped cream and fresh fruits, or simply add dried cranberries in it, this is always a good combination.

Of course, you simply cannot go wrong with apricot marmalade and peanut butter. Well, here is another idea for you. Replace a part of water in your recipe with milk, and your bagels will become even lighter and more delicious. Pour some melted dark chocolate on the top and sprinkle walnuts or ground almonds on, and forget about calories, you only live once.
